There is a housing shortage in our state and it's time to fix it! 

Thanks to a federal and state tax program quality housing can be built and rented to seniors, veterans, law enforcement officers, teachers, hospitality staff, and other workforce members at a reasonable cost. 

BUT THAT COULD SOON CHANGE!!

Legislation in the State House and State Senate right now would eliminate the state tax credit causing rental property prices to skyrocket and making it harder for citizens to afford housing.

Did you know that: 

  • Every $1 invested in tax relief for Housing investment provides $5 in economic return for our state

  • Increased private investments in housing projects saves South Carolina taxpayers $9 billion

  • Almost $200 million in additional tax revenue has been generated by investing in S.C. Housing, providing more opportunities to help South Carolinians save in tax dollars, find homes that fit their budget and have a path to access the American Dream of owning a home

  • South Carolina has 267,000 renter households that spend over 30% of income on housing costs and 141,000 renter households pay over 50% of their income for housing

  • Construction costs are on the rise and without the state tax credit, housing development costs are skyrocketing therefore increasing rent costs
